Numerical Modeling of Submarine Pipeline Scouring under Tropical Storms

چکیده

Submarine pipelines are the lifelines of national economy. Under influence typhoons, high-speed currents and waves continuously erode seabed, leading to suspension or even rupture pipelines. Therefore, it is great importance study sediment transport under action currents. A numerical model scouring deposition combining wave established, which considered tidal current, storm surges, wind waves, sediments in East China Sea. Combining with monitoring actual laying condition pipelines, found that area most serious around KP300. It shown typhoon weather high intensity density will lead noteworthy construction marine engineering.

Numerical Modeling of Seismic-induced Soil Response Around Submarine Pipeline

Seismic-induced pore pressure and effective stresses in the saturated porous seabed under seismic loading are the main factors that govern the overall stability of submarine pipelines. In most of the previous investigations for the seismic-induced dynamic response around a submarine pipeline have been limited to two-dimension cases. In this paper, a three-dimensional finite element model includ...

Experimental Investigation of the Effect of Splitter Plate Angle on the Under-Scouring of Submarine Pipeline Due to Steady Current and Clear Water Condition

Submarine pipelines are appropriate method for transmission of oil and gas from sea bed. Free spans may occur due to the natural uneven seabed or by under-scouring. Vortex Induced Vibration (VIV) can happen in such free spans at high Reynolds number. Resonance occurs if the frequency of vortex shedding is close to the pipeline’s natural frequency leading to its fatigue that can break the pipeli...

Synthesis and Optimization of Submarine Pipeline Routes

Traditionally, the selection of a pipeline route for offshore applications has been manually performed by the engineer, by a quick inspection of the seabottom bathymetry and the available information regarding obstacles. Eventually the evaluation of a given route could be performed using analysis tools, but in any case the process is highly dependent on the expertise of the engineer. In this co...

Intensified Arabian Sea tropical storms

Tropical cyclones over the Arabian Sea in the pre-monsoon season (May–June) have intensified since 1997 (ref. 1, Fig. 1a) owing to significant reductions in storm-ambient vertical wind shear (VWS) in the troposphere; these reductions have decreased on average by about 3m s from the pre-1997 epoch (1979–1997) to the recent epoch (1998–2010). The authors attribute the reduction of premonsoon VWS ...

Cirrus Canopies in Tropical Storms

An analysis is made of the generation, advection, and dissipation processes of the cirrus canopy in tropical storms with particular emphasis on the formation of sharp edges. Although subsidence and accompanying evaporation may be factors, this formation is closely tied with the wind flow pattern near the edges. The stronger the radial wind velocity in the vicinity of the edges, the greater is t...
